This months book: Intro to ‘An almost perfect summer’ by Jill Mansel
You’re invited. Yes, you. Whether you’re a voracious reader, a casual skimmer, or someone who just enjoys books through the effortless means of audio —this is for you. This is a rolling series taking place on the last Monday of each month. One book a month.
About the Event
Welcome – A gentle ease-in, because we understand socialising can sometimes feel like a high-stakes interview. Grab a drink, settle in, and meet your fellow book lovers. No pressure, no pop quizzes, just good conversation.
What to expect– As it’s the first event we will be doing a introduction to ‘An almost perfect summer’ by Jill Mansell and then a review in April (this way you get a chance to read the book). Aprils meet will also include a book swap so make sure to book your place (only 20 places available)
Who Can Attend?
If you’re a woman in your 20s or 30s and fancy an evening of book chat, cultural musings, and potentially forming lifelong friendships over a shared love of fictional characters—this is your kind of thing.
The Fine Print (Not That Fine, Really)
Booking is essential. Our venue picks have a delightful but limited capacity, and we hate turning people away. So secure your spot.
So, are you in? Of course, you are. See you there!

An almost perfect summer’ by Jill Mansel
Nick is the most intriguing man Nella has met in a while. He's a 9 in the looks department (no one gets a 10), he makes her laugh, and he keeps her company when she ends up in A&E. But they live hundreds of miles apart.
Then Nella loses her job. There's a perfect role on offer at a Cotswolds holiday retreat. The catch is that her boss would be Nick. And that makes Nick the one man she can't risk falling in love with.
While Nella struggles with her feelings, a Hollywood star has found a haven at the retreat. Lizzie's sworn off people - especially men - until her friendly new neighbours entice her out of her shell. Maybe she needs a flirtation - with gorgeous Nick, perhaps? Not with taciturn local Matthew, though, who definitely isn't a member of her fan club. Then an astonishing secret revealed changes everything . . .
